A cloudy bank holiday weekend seems the perfect occasion to spend the day wandering around a National Trust property with the family. So off we went to Bodiam Castle yesterday. This has got to be one of my favorite castles: it’s so cute and well formed! Somewhat like Skipton Castle. Some photos I took:

Maybe some kind of grasshopper? Saw it on the balcony today in the sun.
Finally it was sunny enough to go walking on Saturday. So I went adventuring in previously unexplored territory near Princes Risborough. Tried unsuccessfully to get a tan, instead I ended up with lots of nettle stings . Here’s some generic pleasant countryside: Also, a cute little church:
For reasons vaguely connected with my day job I found myself at a soiree at a certain marketing suite on the Olympic Park last Thursday. The less said about the event itself the better but I did manage to get a look at the nearly finished venues: Photo sucks as I only had my phone […]
I went to Munich for a few days last week with my friend Kelly. Mostly it rained so thankfully there were plenty of indoor museums to do. But on the one sunny day we went to this awesome castle at Neuschwanstein in the Alps. Unfortunately one whole side of the castle was covered in scaffolding […]
Yesterday while I was out exploring I discovered this beautiful pink tree. Is it a cherry blossom? Maybe a tree scientist would know. Anyway, the tree was full of bees! Which is a bit of rarity these days I think. Tried to take some photos of them but unfortunately they don’t much like posing. Also […]
Went for a wander in the Chilterns near Henley today, on account of it being the first warm-ish sunny day for ages. Regular readers might have noticed that my adventurings have become less, err, adventurous of late with suspicious amounts of repetition. Well, I’ve decided that the Chilterns really are the optimal walking location in […]
Another year so time for fresh adventuring. Yesterday I wandered through Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire to that far-flung outpost of the London Underground, Chorleywood: View Chorleywood in a larger map I had rather optimistically set off for Hemel Hempstead but I was hampered by the available daylight and my inability to estimate distances. Below are some […]
Awesome sunset tonight in Hastings near my parents house. This is the local reservoir. I followed Blodgett’s previous advice of using the spot metering mode and I also used the exposure compensation to make it a bit brighter. I’ve put loads more here but they’re mostly duplicates.
A forest missing its leaves somewhere near Marlow last week: One advantage to having the trees in this state is that it’s much easier to see where you’re going when adventuring out in the wilderness…
