Eurovision

May 25th, 2013

Sadly not the best selection of songs this year. However I did rather like this little ditty from Romania. You have to wait a little while for him to get going…

Festivity

May 16th, 2013

I spent the May Day bank holiday back home in Hastings at one of the town’s pagan-themed festivals, Jack in the Green.

Basically the big green fellow parades around for a bit and is then ritually slaughtered at the local castle, thus celebrating the arrival of spring. Also followed by a large amount of morris dancing.

The bloke in the top hat is long-serving leader of the local council, Jeremey Birch!

Windmill

May 11th, 2013

The ideal British bank holiday outing: we went for a picnic at the local nuclear power station (Dungeness). Upon arrival it began to rain so we ate in the car. The subsequent attempt to go for a wander along the beach was quickly abandoned due to rain, wind, and freezing cold.

Nevermind. On the way back home we stopped at camber sands which was also bleak:

Bee

May 11th, 2013

Last weekend I beefriended a local bee in my parent’s garden.

Taking photos of bees is rather hard as they move unbeelievably quickly :(.

Here we can see the bee using its sucker to extract honey from the flower.
